Last week, we had the honor of welcoming Iselda and Patricia, representatives from the Animal Rescue and Welfare Association (ARBA), with whom we have been working for several years to promote and implement responsible animal husbandry practices on our farm and orchard—an integral part of our commitment to ethical hospitality and sustainable hotels.

For more than a decade, El Albergue Ollantaytambo has operated its own organic garden and sustainable farm, where we practice respectful and responsible animal care rooted in local traditions and animal welfare principles. Thanks to our long-standing relationship with ARBA, we have strengthened partnerships with organizations such as Open Wing Alliance through Perú Sin Jaulas, reinforcing our dedication to sustainable farming, regenerative agriculture, and more conscious production models.

All proteins served at our restaurants come directly from animals raised on our farm, in environments designed to promote natural growth and well-being—without artificial stimulants or interventions. These practices prioritize the welfare of the animals and foster a harmonious relationship with the environment, consistent with the values of eco-friendly hospitality and responsible travel.

During their visit, ARBA honored us with two awards: one for El Albergue Restaurant, recognizing our inclusive menu based on plant-derived ingredients from our organic garden; and another for Restaurante Chuncho, for preserving local culinary traditions that highlight vegetable-based ingredients rooted in ancestral recipes, respectful of culture and welcoming to diverse dietary preferences.

We deeply appreciate ARBA’s visit and recognition of our work. We are confident that more companies in the hospitality sector will join this journey toward ethical, sustainable, and community-focused hospitality, where environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and mindful tourism are the foundation of truly memorable experiences.
